How do I add assessment results?

You can add assessment results by clicking on the Add Assessment Results button on the Assessments page.

There are a number of options available for adding assessment results. The goal is to be able to map all assessment results together on the same graph regardless of assessment type.

(Don't worry. You can of course also graph only results for a specific type as well by sorting by assessment type.)

Input basic assessment data.
Choose an assessment type: Kid-Inspired, WIDA, or Other.
Choose whether to use suggested standards or set your own standards. A score is created by dividing the score the student got in each language domain by the standard for that language domain on the assessment. For WIDA, for instance, the suggested standard is 4.5 since that is what is usually required for students to test out of LEP services. The standards for Kid-Inspired assessments differ for each assessment and those standards are added automatically if you select Use Suggested Standards.
You can change any of these details later on the assessments page.
The assessment results can be added to certain forms automatically as well at a later date.
**Tip: **After adding results, you'll get a button that allows you to load the form again with all of the options you previously selected already selected for you. This helps speed up the process of adding assessment results.

Your license:

Teachers can use the curriculum as long as they maintain an active subscription to the membership and are only using it with students they personally teach live and in-person whether it's online or offline. If the curriculum is being used on a freelance platform, like Outschool, for example, please leave a link to the Kid-Inspired website as a reference.

Resell the Curriculum

How long does a level in the ESL Curriculum Membership generally take to complete?

How long does a level in the ESL Curriculum Membership take to complete?

The time it takes to complete a level varies based on a number of factors.

Number of Classes a Week - with classes every day you would move significantly faster through the material than only having classes 2-3 times a week.
Length of Classes - 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 1 and 1/2 hour classes, the length of classes affects how long a level takes.
Homework - How much practice your students would be doing outside of class on their own.
Goals - How quickly you and your students want to make progress. If you skip certain pages or even certain units, you can progress more quickly but with not as much depth. If you work through all of the materials and take your time with it, you can get a lot of depth but progress much more slowly. One option is to discuss with students what goals they’d like to set for themselves each week or month.
Motivation - Every class of students is different, just as how every teacher teaches is different. If you have an energetic, focused and motivated class, you will likely be able to work quickly through the materials. If you have a group of students who are discouraged, unmotivated and drag their feet, you will likely need to spend as much time on relationship and trust building as you do on the curriculum which would slow you down significantly.

At the school where we developed the curriculum, we generally take a semester (about 4 months) to go through a level with a group of 10-12 students, 2 days a week each, class being 2 hours and 15 minutes.

In the summer, we sometimes do more concentrated versions of a level where students come to class every day for 2 hours and finish a level in a month.

NearPod is a really fun, free platform where you can create interactive slides.

You can teach one-on-one or get whole groups engaging with the lessons at the same time.

Why do phonics lists in the beginners levels have so few words?

The lists on these pages are quite short.

I learned this the hard way, through experimenting with lots of students over a lot of years.

Longer lists of words are fine for stronger students, but weaker students feel overwhelmed when looking at them.

Also, stronger students who can read all the words on a simple list are probably ready for simple texts instead of lists.

Use the short lists to help students master a new sound.

Once they have mastered that new sound, you can have them try longer lists of words, but they are probably going to be more motivated to reaad simple texts instead.

How do I manage schools on my account?

You need at least one school for your account. Schools help teachers who have to manage ELLs across multiple school buildings to keep things organized. (If you are an independent teacher, you can create your own school and call it whatever you want.)

To add a school, just click the Add a School button on the schools page or the link in the menu.Add a School Now ->

To delete a school, just click the Add a School button on the schools page or the link in the menu.Add a School Now ->

To Edit a School Name or Delete a School:

Click on the row for that school in the Schools table.
A little black popup will appear with the options to Edit or Delete.
Be careful deleting a school since there is no way to get it back. Students and other data are not removed when deleting a school.
